Who goes to the MCAA convention
MCAA describes the event as its premier annual gathering. The invitation list is wide: principals, senior and middle management, project managers, operations staff, safety and health professionals, local association executives, and students and faculty. The event includes a trade show, education seminars, and social events.
That mix matters to me. AI training that only works for the owner fails in the field. It has to work for the estimator, the PM, and the safety director too.
Why AI belongs on a mechanical contractor’s desk
Mechanical work runs on paper. Takeoffs, submittals, RFIs, change orders, service agreements. Every job produces a stack, and someone on your team reads all of it.
That’s where I point AI. An estimator gets a second set of eyes on every package without adding headcount. A PM turns field notes into a change order that holds up. A service manager gets customer emails turned into clean job summaries for the technicians.
None of that replaces your people. It takes the paperwork off their plate so they can make the calls only they can make.

I’ve trained MCA chapters in Connecticut, Ohio, Eastern Missouri, Houston, Greater Chicago, Northwest Ohio, Indiana, and Kansas City. The national stage is a bigger room, but the questions are the same ones I hear everywhere. Where do we start? What should our people use this for? How do we keep company data out of a public tool?
