Four associations have signed on to the Iron Thread AI Mastery Program: NECA Boston, NECA Cascade, Master Builders of Iowa, and Wichita SMACNA. Here’s what it is, who it’s for, and what members get.

What the AI Mastery Program is

It’s a 12-month training partnership for an association’s whole membership. Members get one live 90-minute session each month.

It is not a recorded course. Every session is live, with real contractor examples and live tool demos. Recordings go out within 48 hours, so a jobsite that runs long doesn’t put anyone behind.

A single workshop creates momentum. Twelve months creates capability.

The three phases

Phase Months What it covers
Foundation 1 to 4 AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, Microsoft Copilot, and AI for project management
Application 5 to 8 Estimating and bidding, safety and compliance, customer communication, and code research
Advanced 9 to 12 Predictive analytics, custom builds, workflow automation, and measuring return

The order is on purpose. A member who has never touched AI keeps up from day one. A member who already uses it daily still gets pushed by month nine.

Who it’s for

It’s built for the members of a trade association, at any skill level. Owners, project managers, estimators, and field leaders can all learn side by side.

The four associations cover electrical, sheet metal, and general commercial building. Sessions are tailored to each association’s trade.

What members get

By the end of the year, each member finishes with:

  • A certificate documenting twelve months of AI proficiency
  • A portfolio of custom tools built for their own company
  • A measured return analysis and a 12-month forward plan

How it runs

  • Live, never a replay. One 90-minute session per month.
  • Recordings inside 48 hours. Nobody falls behind.
  • Optional monthly Q&A. A 60-minute session where members bring real work problems and we solve them live.
  • The curriculum adapts. If a major platform update lands or members name a specific need, the content changes. A 12-month program on a frozen syllabus is out of date by month four.

The four associations

  • NECA Boston
  • NECA Cascade
  • Wichita SMACNA
  • Master Builders of Iowa. I’m also speaking at the MBI Annual Winter Conference on February 23 to 24, 2027.

Why I built it this way

I spent 20 years in construction and hold a Class B General Contractor license. I know a one-day seminar fades fast. Habits form when people practice every month with their own work. So the program gives members a reason to open the tools every month and a live room to ask questions.
