Custom AI solutions for contractors start with one question. Which task eats your week? Not which tool is trending. Which task. If it’s repeatable, document-heavy, or communication-heavy, there’s a good chance I can build something that does the first pass for you.

Here’s what I build and what problem each tool solves.

Why generic AI stops working

Off-the-shelf AI doesn’t know your pricing methods, your standards, or your formats. So every answer needs fixing. After a few weeks, your team stops asking.

A custom tool fixes that. It works from your documents and your rules, on one job. It does that job the same way every time.

What I build

Tool The problem What it does
Submittal writer Packages get assembled by hand, and mismatches with the spec slip through Reads the spec section and product data, assembles the package against your template, and flags what doesn’t match before it leaves your office
RFI writer Conflicts between drawings and specs show up late, and RFIs get written from scratch Cross-references drawings against specs and drafts the RFI with sheet numbers and spec sections already in it. It flags. It doesn’t send.
Change order writer Field changes get documented late, and you lose the argument Turns field notes and contract language into a change order narrative in your format
Bid/no-bid analyzer You spend estimating hours on bids you were never going to win Reads the invitation and bid documents, scores the job against your own history by customer, scope, size, and margin, and returns a go or no-go with reasoning
Takeoff tool Counting takes days Pulls fixture and panel schedules, counts symbols on the plan, applies your rules, and scores its own confidence on every line
Contract review and markup Risk language hides in page 40 Flags risk language, conflicts, and missing terms, and marks up the contract for your review

I also keep a menu of 50 build ideas. Bring yours anyway.

The takeoff number, with the fine print

On one real electrical drawing set, a takeoff that took four days came back in about seven minutes. It was 97% accurate against the estimator’s own count.

That’s one project. It’s my result, not independent research. The accuracy holds when your business rules are documented and your drawing set is clean. That’s what the discovery work is for.

What it saves

I won’t put a dollar figure on a tool I haven’t built on your documents. Anyone who does is guessing. Here’s what I measure instead:

  • Hours per task, before and after, on your real documents
  • Errors caught before the document went out
  • Bids you skipped because the screen said no-go

If the tool can’t beat your current process, it doesn’t ship.

How a build runs

  1. Discovery. We find what in your process AI can take on.
  2. Design. We document the plan and the rules.
  3. Build. I build it against your real documents.
  4. Test. It has to beat your manual process.

A few promises sit behind every build:

  • You own it. Move it, change it, retire it.
  • Your data stays yours. It stays on your infrastructure.
  • Read, never write. The tool reads your system of record. It never writes to it.
  • No migration. It’s built in the stack you already run.
  • Support. Every phase includes 90 days of support.

Who this fits

Contractors with a repeatable task that eats hours. Estimators buried in takeoffs. PMs writing the same RFI for the fortieth time. It doesn’t fit if you want to replace your software. I build on top of what you run.

FAQ

What are custom AI solutions for contractors?
They’re AI tools built on your documents, your rules, and your formats to do one repeatable job, like a submittal, an RFI, or a takeoff.

How accurate is the takeoff tool?
On one real electrical drawing set it was 97% accurate against the estimator’s own count. Accuracy on your jobs depends on your drawings and on how well your rules are documented.

Do I have to switch software?
No. The tools are built in the stack you already run, and they read your system of record without writing to it.

Who owns the tool?
You do. You can move it, change it, or retire it.
